New Mural Possible For Guin

Please take a moment to check out the online version of the Journal Record at http://www.myjrpaper.com. There's an article on their front page outlining plans we have for a new mural backdrop to be located behind our fountain in downtown Guin.

On a personal note, there's also an article there about Trad Godsey, a former baseball player of mine. He has received a degree from Harvard University. I'm always proud to see any student further their education in any way, but to read what he's done is amazing.

One final note: Unfortunately, the Journal Record does not have an archive feature which would allow you to see their older articles, so if you're trying to reach some of those outlined in some of my earlier posts, you will only see the current version of the newspaper.

From the picture I viewed in the paper any improvements,[ paint, mural] would be less vulgar than the current state of the buildings exterior. Why should approval have to be given when obviously the owner/member has no concern to this point? Rodger

Rodger,

The owner did suggest a few changes to the mural and we're waiting for those to come back from the artist. Once the owner gives his ok, we'll be free to start the process. The artist is ready to start once everyone is happy, so this should happen quickly. As mentioned in the newspaper, we will be seeking private donations to hopefully eliminate any cost burden on the city.

I deleted a couple of comments which weren't related to this particular thread. There is a previous thread in which those particular issues have been discussed already. Feel free to comment there.

I want to thank everyone for all the wonderfull feed-back regarding the mural progress. I have been busy blocking in colors and started shading. The rain has held me up today and I'm hopefull to have most of the mural complete by elections. The city staff and local merchants have been so helpfull. Thanks to everyone for their support.

Missy,

The mural already looks amazing. Thank you so much for your work. I can't wait to see the completed project.

For some reason, the flickr link you provided is not available. If you have a link to pictures of the mural, I would be glad to create a new post with the link so readers can see the progress you're making.
